車窓からの景色をアニメーションにした映像作品「The Indifferent Window | 非選択的な車窓 」。実際の車窓風景を映像として記録し、その映像をなぞるようにして制作された作品です。
人間の目が切り取る瞬間は、1秒あたりおよそ30〜60コマと言われています。そうした“選択された瞬間”をアニメーションとして描き出す一方で、“選択されなかった瞬間”を映像から抽出し、40枚のガラス作品として表現しています。
それは、目の前で確かに起こっていたのに、捉えることのできなかった瞬間を、脆く剥がれやすいガラスという素材に焼き付けた作品です。
本作品では、異なる瞬間を写し取った40枚のガラスの中から、おひとつをお選びしお届けいたします。素材の特性上、プリントが剥がれやすい仕様となっておりますが、その儚さも含めて作品としてお楽しみいただけましたら幸いです。なお、保存をご希望の場合は、額装などで保護いただくことをおすすめいたします。

まちだリな | MACHIDA Lina
1997年うまれ。美術家、アニメーション作家。
喪失をうしなわないこと、そのための一瞬を切り取りながら作品を制作する。上映作品と展示作品の両方を手がけ、これまでに世界20カ国以上で作品が上映・展示されている。アニメーションを中心に、映像、ガラス、光、電子機器など多様なメディウムを用いて表現を探求。特にアニメーション作品では、厚塗りの絵の具による断片的な映像をつなぎ合わせた実験的な手法が特徴。展示や映画にとどまらず、ミュージックビデオ、テレビCM、Hermèsとのコラボレーションなど、活動の幅を広げている。

This product is sold as a single glass piece. The video work is sold separately.
The Indifferent Window is an animation work based on scenery viewed from a train window. It was created by tracing over actual video footage of passing landscapes as seen through the window.
It is said that the human eye captures approximately 30 to 60 frames per second. While animation traditionally reflects these “selected moments,” this work also focuses on the “unselected moments” — the fragments not consciously registered. These unseen instances are extracted from the footage and transformed into 40 individual glass pieces.
Each piece captures a fleeting moment—something that undoubtedly occurred before our eyes, yet slipped past perception. These moments are burned onto delicate, fragile glass, a material that itself embodies ephemerality.
You will receive one piece selected from the 40, each representing a different moment. Due to the nature of the material, the printed surface is delicate and may peel or fade over time. We hope you will embrace this transience as part of the artwork's character. If you wish to preserve the piece in its current state, we recommend framing or other protective measures.
The animation work The Indifferent Window is available for purchase separately on another page, accompanied by a monitor display.

Artist and Animation artist
Lina Machida's works have been shown in cinemas and exhibitions in over 20 countries.
She creates works on the theme of “not losing loss,” using a variety of mediums including animation, video, glass, light, and electronics. 

In particular, her animations are characterized by an experimental style in which she uses thick paints to connect fragments of images.
Her activities are not limited to exhibitions and films, but also include music videos, TV commercials, and collaborations with the fashion brand Hermès.
