「The Indifferent Window | 非選択的な車窓」は、移動する車窓からの風景をもとに制作されたアニメーション作品です。実際の車窓映像を記録し、その動きをなぞるようにアニメーションを描き起こすことで、流れゆく景色の“選ばれた瞬間”を映像として表現しています。
人間の目は、1秒あたり約30〜60コマの視覚情報を受け取っていると言われています。しかし、そのすべてを記憶し、意識できるわけではありません。本作では、私たちが見ているようで見逃している、“選択されなかった瞬間”にも焦点を当てています。
アニメーションとして描かれなかった瞬間は、映像から抽出され、40枚のガラス作品として再構成されました。そこに刻まれているのは、確かに目の前で起こっていたのに、私たちが捉えることのできなかった一瞬たちです。それらは、脆く剥がれやすいガラスという素材に焼き付けられ、忘却と記録の狭間に存在する記憶のような佇まいを見せます。

まちだリな | MACHIDA Lina
1997年うまれ。美術家、アニメーション作家。
喪失をうしなわないこと、そのための一瞬を切り取りながら作品を制作する。上映作品と展示作品の両方を手がけ、これまでに世界20カ国以上で作品が上映・展示されている。アニメーションを中心に、映像、ガラス、光、電子機器など多様なメディウムを用いて表現を探求。特にアニメーション作品では、厚塗りの絵の具による断片的な映像をつなぎ合わせた実験的な手法が特徴。展示や映画にとどまらず、ミュージックビデオ、テレビCM、Hermèsとのコラボレーションなど、活動の幅を広げている。

The video work will be delivered together with the monitor and its wooden frame.
The Indifferent Window is an animated video piece created based on views seen from the window of a moving train. The work traces real recorded footage of passing scenery, transforming selected moments into hand-drawn animation.
It is said that the human eye receives approximately 30 to 60 frames of visual information per second. However, not every moment is remembered or consciously perceived. This work draws attention to those "unselected moments"—the fragments of time that slip past our awareness.
The moments not depicted in the animation were extracted from the video and reinterpreted as 40 individual glass works. Each piece captures an instant that truly occurred before our eyes, yet escaped our notice. By fusing these unseen moments into the fragile, peelable surface of glass, the works evoke a quiet presence—like memories suspended between forgetting and recording.

Artist and Animation artist
Lina Machida's works have been shown in cinemas and exhibitions in over 20 countries.
She creates works on the theme of “not losing loss,” using a variety of mediums including animation, video, glass, light, and electronics. 

In particular, her animations are characterized by an experimental style in which she uses thick paints to connect fragments of images.
Her activities are not limited to exhibitions and films, but also include music videos, TV commercials, and collaborations with the fashion brand Hermès.
